About Bryce
America's youngest and Chicago's only Master of Wine, Bryce Wiatrak has spent his career exploring wine from every angle: as critic, author, educator, and entrepreneur. After winning the Vinous Young Wine Writer Fellowship, he worked as Junior Editor at Antonio Galloni’s Vinous before joining GuildSomm, the leading academic wine publication and education platform, as Staff Writer. He continues to write for GuildSomm as their Senior Contributor. His articles have appeared in nearly every major American wine publication and several general interest outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
In 2026, Bryce earned the Master of Wine title, the highest certification for the global wine trade, after passing all portions of the famously rigorous exam on his first attempt. He’s also a Certified Sommelier and teaches WSET courses across the United States. Bryce is presently authoring Dessert Wine, the largest volume ever to be published on sweet and fortified wine, for University of California press. Based in Chicago, he leads masterclasses and tastings that regularly sell out in key markets around the world.
